“Peggy's Cove Harbour”

“Art is working with ordinary materials and creating something special and extraordinary.”

I was born in Wavre, Belgium and moved to Canada at the age of ten. As a youth, my artistic ability was fostered through my love of Disney characters.

As a young adult, my husband and I moved frequently throughout Alberta and Manitoba living in many rural and isolated communities in northern Canada. Specifically, my creativity was inspired by the raw beauty of Lake Athabasca and the abundant wildlife of the Wood Buffalo National Park while living in Fort Chipewyan in northern Alberta. I also received inspiration through my extensive travels throughout Canada, including the far north, USA, Central and South America, Europe, Scandinavia and Asia.

One of my particular passions is eastern Canada and the many seascapes which encompass the region. I was involved in the memorial ceremony for the crash of Swiss Air Flight #111 near Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia in 1998. This experience moved me deeply and the themes of water, rocks, storms and eastern seascapes are evident in many of my earlier paintings.

My mediums include acrylics, watercolour, scratch art and ink. I also create beautiful one of kind and unique jewelry and stained glass treasures. My art is displayed nationally through commission sales and participation with various foundations and organizations such as Duck's Unlimited.

I work from my studio on Mayne Island, British Columbia and live with my husband and our best friend Carver (Weimaraner). We have two daughters and four granddaughters.

If you are interested in purchasing a piece of art or jewelry, drop by my studio or contact me if you would like to discuss a commissioned work of art. It would be my honour and pleasure to work with you to create a family heirloom.

“Carver – my best friend and companion.”

Carver House Studio was created in 2011 and is quickly becoming a popular choice for artistic creations in Grey Bruce and Southern Ontario. In 2017 we relocated to Mayne Island, British Columbia, and are enjoying the lovely vistas and scenery here. The history of its name (Carver House) stems from my deep love for my best friend and companion, Carver, a 6 year old Weimaraner rescue dog.

I saved Carver from an abusive situation in Vancouver, British Columbia and re-homed him to Ontario in 2008. Malnourished and with severe anxiety issues, I nursed him to health both physically and emotionally and our home has become Carver’s house. Today, Carver is a happy and healthy addition to the family and loves to welcome visitors to his name sake, Carver House Studio.
